Processing Suspects
Detention and Announcement:
Action: Detain the suspect you intend to arrest and clearly announce that the suspect is under arrest at this time.
Medical Attention:
Assessment: Ask the suspect if they require any medical attention. If none is requested, inform dispatch that you are transporting the suspect to the LSPD. If the suspect requires medical attention, contact EMS if available. If not available, transport the suspect to Pillbox Medical for treatment before final transport to LSPD.
Transport:
Action: Transport the suspect to the LSPD for further processing. Request backup as needed.
Processing at LSPD:
Personal Items: Remove the suspect’s gloves, mask, or any items covering their face.
Search: Conduct a thorough search of the suspect, removing all firearms, weapons, and any other dangerous/illegal items.
Fingerprinting: Obtain and record the suspect's fingerprints. Search their information on the MDT to verify their identity.
Photograph: Take a photograph of the suspect for the MDT.
Holding:
Holding Cell: Place the suspect in one of the holding cells.
Remove Cuffs: Remove cuffs from the suspect and ask if they wish to have a Lawyer.
Lawyer Request: If the suspect requests a lawyer, check for available legal representation.
Miranda Rights and Interview:
Miranda Rights: Read the suspect their Miranda Rights before conducting any interview.:

Charge Notification:
Final Charges: Provide the suspect or their lawyer with a final list of charges including the time they will be serving and the fines.
Plea and Detention:
Plea: Ask the suspect or their lawyer if they plead guilty to the charges.
Jail Time: Record the appropriate jail time based on the charges and the suspect’s plea.
By following these procedures, officers ensure that arrests and subsequent processing are handled systematically and legally, respecting the rights of suspects and maintaining procedural integrity.
