Speed Limits & Violations

Speed limits are established to ensure safe driving conditions on different types of roadways. The enforcement of these limits is crucial for preventing accidents and maintaining road safety.

  • City Speed Limit: The maximum allowable speed in city areas is 45 mph. This limit is designed to accommodate higher pedestrian activity and denser traffic conditions typical of urban environments.

  • Highway Speed Limit: The maximum allowable speed on highways is 95 mph. This limit applies to major roads designed for higher-speed travel and longer distances, where traffic conditions are generally less congested.

  • Blaine County Roads Speed limit: The maximum allowable speed in Blaine County road, including Route 68 and Joshua Road is set to 75 mph.

Violations: Speeding violations occur when a driver exceeds the posted speed limits. Officers are responsible for identifying, stopping, and citing drivers who breach these limits. Enforcement actions may include issuing citations and documenting the violation in an incident report.
