LSPD Ride-Along Policy
Purpose
The LSPD Ride-Along Program allows civilians to observe police operations while ensuring safety and professionalism.
Eligibility Requirements
Criminal History: No violent felony charges in the last 14 days. Pending charges may disqualify participation.
Weapons Policy: No weapons allowed, even if licensed.
Waiver: Must sign a liability waiver acknowledging risks.
Armor: Participants will be provided with two sets of PD armor and must wear them.
Conduct Rules
Follow Instructions: Non-compliance results in immediate removal.
Observation Only: No interfering, engaging with suspects, or handling equipment.
Confidentiality: Sharing any information overheard is prohibited.
Safety First: Stay in the vehicle or a secure area if directed.

Background Check Approval
Verbally agree to waiver agreement.
Ride-Along Disclaimer
LSPD may end a ride-along at any time if participant behavior compromises safety or operations.
Verbal Waiver & Agreement (Before Ride-Along Begins)
Officer Statement: "This ride-along is voluntary and may expose you to hazardous situations. You accept all risks, release LSPD from liability, and agree to follow all instructions. You will receive two sets of police armor and may be searched for weapons. Do you understand and accept these terms?"
Participant Response: "I understand and accept these terms."

Example Log Entry: "On [DATE] at [TIME], [PARTICIPANT NAME] verbally agreed to the LSPD Ride-Along Program. Consent obtained by [OFFICER NAME], Badge #[BADGE NUMBER]."
