Do's & Don't List

DO

  • Initiate with Code-3s. Position vehicle safely and properly

  • Identify yourself properly and fully

  • Give clear and concise instructions

  • Approach the vehicle and remain professional

  • Ask for the identification of the driver

  • Run a vehicle and person check in the MDT

DON'T

  • Pullover vehicles without suspicion or cause

  • Match annoyance with annoyance

  • Make unnecessary demands

  • Over-escalate the situation

  • Assume the vehicle tag matches the driver OR vehicle

  • Charge every vehicle code without cause

  • Let the vehicle leave until it is safe to do so

  • Abandon 10-13s or additional requests
