Vehicle Patrol
Patrol Vehicle Use
Vehicle Assignment: Officers must use their assigned patrol vehicle strictly for duty. Inspect it at the start of each shift for any issues.
No Upgrades to Standard Patrol Units: Vehicle modifications (e.g., engine, brakes) are prohibited on standard patrol vehicles. Vehicles must be black with a visible livery—no ghost liveries allowed.
Interceptor Units: Vehicles must be white with visible livery. Vehicle modifications must be discussed with SPEED Lead(s).
Maintenance: Vehicles must be regularly inspected and promptly repaired if damaged or faulty.
Patrol Procedures
Visibility: Maintain a visible presence to deter crime and build community trust. Use emergency lights when appropriate and engage professionally with the public.
Radio Communication
Check-Ins: Officers must update dispatch regularly on their location and status.
Emergencies: Use radio to request assistance and coordinate with units during critical incidents.
Traffic Enforcement
Violations: Enforce traffic laws by issuing citations, conducting stops, and addressing unsafe driving.
Pursuits: Follow department pursuit policies, assess risks, and coordinate with other units as needed.
By following these guidelines, officers ensure effective patrols, public safety, and uphold LSPD’s mission.
